The news over the last couple of years has simply been surreal. The White House was busted late yesterday for having documents that explained why they believe they have the right to kill US citizens — even without “clear evidence” that they’re even planning any kind of attack at all. In other words, a blank check when it comes to killing US citizens.
This has led to a complete viral sensation, with conservatives, libertarians, and even liberals demanding answers. Congress even demanded to see what the standards were for killing US citizens. So the White House has responded… with a shocking answer.
The White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explains that they take “great care” before killing US citizens, and not to worry because the killing of US citizens without trial or evidence is “legal”, “ethical”, and “wise”. I kid you not.
As we reported yesterday, a memo was leaked that the White House believes it has the authority to kill US citizens without a trial and without “clear evidence”. They claim they will only do this in the war on terror, so we have nothing to fear. Also, I’d like to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge.
Every time a politician tells you that you have nothing to fear, that’s the time you should fear the most. The goal isn’t just to fight the war on terrorism. It never has been just about that. Politicians crave power like you and I crave to be respected as human beings with God-given rights.
The constitution is very clear. There is no “right” for the president to kill US citizens without a trial, and presenting clear evidence during that trial full-in-line with due process. The entire Bill of Rights, the 14th Amendment — it’s all there, plain as day, protecting us from the government doing such a thing as this.
How This Could Be “Abused”
I almost didn’t use the word “abused”, because, quite frankly, the death of any American citizen without due process is abuse. I don’t care if the person is connected to a crazy militant group — the constitution protects them and we must follow it in order to protect ourselves down the road. And that’s just the point.
The memo circulating apparently explains that the White House is open to murdering any American with ties to a “terror” group, even if there is no evidence they are doing anything illegal themselves. How could this go wrong? Good grief folks, look at the headlines and the commentators right now: America is on the brink of open conflict within our own borders.
I don’t want my home to be bombed because I might have friends who openly rebel against the Obama administration at some point. If riots ever occur, the government shouldn’t have the ability to then start murdering people associated with the riots. If someone has bad friends, then punish the friends — don’t kill the man.
Impeach This Man
In the end, one thing is clear. If there’s enough evidence to kill a human being over — then there’s enough evidence for a trial. This is unnecessary to fight terrorism, violates the constitution, and the White House doesn’t care in the slightest. They’re only after power.
It’s time America begins a very, very serious conversation about how far off base we’ve gotten. It’s time to impeach Mr. Obama and rethink the very structure of the US federal government. We must do this now — before it’s too late.
